Article-Janus International Sponsors Wounded Warrior Outdoors Charity

Janus International, a supplier of rolling-doors and components for the self-storage, commercial and industrial markets, is sponsoring Wounded Warrior Outdoors, a non-profit organization that provides hunting and fishing trips to wounded U.S. and Canadian veterans. The company's goal is to provide four annual trips for 50 veterans.

Wounded Warrior Outdoors was organized to support and pay homage to the wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq.  The goal of the charity’s organizer, Ron Raboud, CEO of The Rabco Corp., was to provide tangible support to the severely wounded and to help them on the road to healing, physically and mentally.

“Janus International and I personally commend Mr. Raboud on his organization of such a worthy cause,” said Janus President David Curtis. “We cannot do enough to support our troops, their families and the sacrifices they have made for our country.”

London Self-Storage Facility Completes Renovation

Article-London Self-Storage Facility Completes Renovation

Lock and Leave Self Storage in Wandsworth, London, England, have completed major renovation to help improve the facility and the customer experience.

The renovation included installation of a elevator, reception area and 24/7 access control to increase the facility’s hours.

“We are thrilled that customers can now enjoy true 24/7 access completely free of charge. The improvements to the facility can only help our customers enjoy their stay with us further,” said Kabineh Koroma, facility manager.

The installation of the new lift involved lowering the existing elevator shaft down to allow for new electric door motors. The ground floor had to be excavated to allow the cab to stop in alignment. The renovation took nearly a year to complete. The facility now has four floors with 700 units in 40 sizes.

Judge Demands Illinois City Make a Decision About Self-Storage Permit

Article-Judge Demands Illinois City Make a Decision About Self-Storage Permit

A judge in Quincy, Ill., ordered the city Monday to either deny or approve a building permit for a self-storage facility after the facility owner initiated a lawsuit last summer.

VLOH Enterprises had previously operated Express Storage on the property until it was shut down six years ago in a legal dispute. After Express Storage closed, the city issued a change in the zoning ordinance to allow self-storage businesses in rural zones. At the time, the city also issued a new special permit to VLOH.

However, the company didn’t come forward to request a building permit until April 2009, at which time city officials declined the permit, believing there were still some unresolved issues from the prior legal dispute.

VLOH’s attorney told the court the city has no valid reason to withhold the building permit since the legal decision that forced the facility to close no longer applied due to the zoning ordinance change.

The Quincy judge told the city it could make its own decision about issuing the building permit, but a decision needed to be made to move the legal process forward.
