Article-Yardi Receives PCI-DSS Security Certification for Self-Storage Management Software

Yardi Systems Inc., which produces management software for self-storage and other types of real estate, has received an “Attestation of Compliance” for the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) 3.0, put in place by the PCI Security Standards Council for entities that process, store and transmit credit card data. Compliance was achieved for the company’s Store Advantage and Store Enterprise applications, which are designed to integrate with self-storage call centers, centralized mail services, corporate offices, mobile devices, Web aggregators, websites and other business systems.

Both applications initially received PCI-DSS approval in 2010, and this is the fifth consecutive year they have been in full compliance, company officials said in a press release. Yardi took control of the products when it acquired management-software firm Centershift Inc. in March 2014.

An Attestation of Compliance is achieved by undergoing an onsite assessment, which is documented in a report verifying that data encryption across open public networks, internal security policies, malware and anti-virus software, network monitoring and access tracking, restricted physical access, routine security tests, and system-wide firewalls are “implemented and strictly maintained,” according to the release.

“We maintain stringent internal policies related to software development and storing, accessing and processing data, and we are committed to the highest security standards to guarantee the safety of our systems and our clients’ data,” said Jay Shobe, vice president of cloud services at Yardi. “All our customers, large and small, rely on our high standards of compliance, including PCI-DSS, to ensure the reliability of their business-wide management systems.”

Yardi designs, develops and supports software for the management of property and real estate investments. Its suite of programs includes accounting, ancillary processes, operations and services with portfolio-wide business intelligence and platform-wide mobility. Based in Santa Barbara, Calif., and founded 40 years ago, the company serves clients worldwide from offices in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
