6Storage, which provides access-control equipment, management software and Web-design services to the self-storage industry, has launched 6Security, a cloud-based technology solution designed to automate and arm facility access areas using electric locks and alarms. It also includes a range of sensors, including infrared/microwave alarms, for flood monitoring and smoke detection, according to a press release. The system integrates with the 6Storage cloud-based management suite.
“We wanted an affordable gate-access system that could secure a building and allow storage operators to get creative with new automated services,” said director Ronald Facchinetti.
6Security can also be used in other applications, for example, to secure package-delivery drop-off areas and communal bike-sharing sites, the release stated.
“We have been testing this technology in entirely unmanned, remote-managed facilities in Italy and Iceland for some time,” said founder Halli Ragnarsson. “Now we are ready to release it globally to an industry that needs a fresh approach to its security.”
Based in San Diego, 6Storage offers an online storage calculator that can be integrated with self-storage websites, search engine optimization services and social media marketing. Its products are in use by facility operators in 28 countries, the release stated.
