Diversified real estate firm 10 Federal has released a new overlock system for self-storage operations. The DaVinci Lock integrates a four-digit combination disc lock with a software platform that allows late-paying tenants to remove the overlock once they’re current on their accounts, according to a press release.
Each lock has a unique serial code engraved on the back. The software decrypts the code to return the lock to normal operation using the tenant’s combination. For service, operators can drive delinquent tenants to a customer-facing website or the DaVinci call center. Once the customer brings his account current, he receives the unlock combination code by providing the serial number.
The new lock system removes responsibility for overlocks from facility managers, allowing the whole process to be executed even during off-hours. It also helps owners of unmanned facilities to overcome their overlock challenges, company officials said.
Based in Raleigh, N.C., 10 Federal acquires, develops and manages multi-family and self-storage properties in North Carolina. Specializing in automated operation, it has 10 self-storage facilities in its portfolio. Integrating technology into its operation is a core tenet of the business, according to the company website.
