The number of self-storage operators who are relying on some form of automated technology in their business appears to be increasing. OpenTech Alliance Inc., a Phoenix-based provider of self-storage kiosks, call-center services and other technology, has reported the number of kiosks sold last year increased 53 percent over 2013 figures. Company revenue from INSOMNIAC kiosk sales and related services topped $4 million last year, company officials said in a press release.
The sales increase was driven largely by existing customers as well as small operators and third-party management companies adding the technology into their mix, officials said.
"We are excited to report that our current customers want more kiosks, and we are welcoming many new customers each month,” said Robert Chiti, president and CEO. “Storage facilities around the country are increasingly using onsite kiosks because consumers are embracing them with no hesitation. Today's high-tech society has been trained to help themselves through the use of all the technology they come into contact with every day."
OpenTech provides several models of INSOMNIAC self-serve kiosks as well as a range of self-storage rental solutions including the INSOMNIAC Live! Call Center, INSOMNIAC Online Web and mobile applications, LiveAgent! software products, and the INSOMNIAC ILock Security System, all available through the company's Self-Storage Cloud.
