Update: 3/4/2015 – Inside Self-Storage and Janus International Group have re-released the whitepaper, “Relocatable Storage Units: Changing Today's Self-Storage Landscape.” Originally published in 2014, the resource is available for free download.

3/5/2014 Inside Self-Storage and Janus International Group, a global provider of self-storage building components, roll-up doors and portable storage units, have released a new whitepaper, “Relocatable Storage Units: Changing Today's Self-Storage Landscape.” The free resource focuses on the development of Janus’ portable-storage offering, Movable Additional Storage Structures (MASS), detailing the product’s benefits and features and presenting multiple case-study examples of the units in various locations. It also explores the building guidelines followed, including ADA compliance, as well as the challenges and tax benefits that can be involved when installing such structures. Finally, it helps readers determine if MASS units might be a good fit for their self-storage property.

MASS units can be useful to self-storage owners who wish to quickly expand their facility or fill in odd-size lots where traditional storage construction is not possible, according to Janus officials. These freestanding containers are typically assembled quickly and can be ordered to mirror the look of the facility’s core self-storage units. They also offer drive-up convenience, officials said.

The whitepaper can be downloaded from the ISS Resource Center at www.insideselfstorage.com/whitepapers.

Based in Temple, Ga., Janus provides roll-up doors and building components for the commercial, industrial and self-storage markets. The company has five domestic and two international locations. It was recently acquired by Saw Mill Capital Partners LP, a private equity investment fund managed by Saw Mill Capital LLC.

For more than 25 years, ISS has provided informational resources for the self-storage industry. Its educational offerings include ISS magazine, the annual ISS Expo, an extensive website, the ISS Store, and Self-Storage Talk, the industry’s largest online community.
