Bird-B-Gone Inc., a manufacturer of products designed to safely keep birds away from self-storage facilities and other types of buildings, has released Bird-Off Clear Gel, a bio-repellant gel designed as an economic bird deterrent. Birds do not like the smell, taste or texture of the oil-based gel, so if they come into contact with it, they become trained to avoid the gel and the area where it is present, company officials said.
The gel is heat-resistant and noncorrosive, and can be applied using a caulking gun to any surface where birds may congregate including pipes, HVAC units, conduits, I-beams and ledges. The gel does not trap birds on the treated surface; they are still able to fly and walk, company officials said. The gel can be removed using mineral spirits.
The nontoxic formula doesnt harm the bird but instead conditions them (sic.) to avoid the treated area, said Scott Swanson, bird-control engineer.
Founded in 1992, Bird-B-Gone Inc. is a manufacturer of professional-grade bird deterrents. The companys products help solve pest-bird problems in commercial, industrial and residential settings.
