OpenTech Alliance Inc., a Phoenix-based provider of self-storage kiosks, call-center services and other technology, launched INSOMNIAC Unit Alarms, a new integration for its OpenTech IoE (Internet of Everything) platform of smart-connected devices. The product allows facility operators to upgrade their older door-alarm systems without having to rewire the property, according to a press release.
The new product provides a 96-input board to connect wired unit alarms to the INSOMNIAC Gateway and OpenTech IoE, allowing operators to maintain their initial investment while taking advantage of the data and real-time reporting available within the OpenTech IoE Control Center. It provides an alert—siren, e-mail and text message—if a unit door is opened without a tenant entering his access code. Real-time reporting lets staff view the status of all unit alarms and manage issues from any Internet-enabled device.
Its integration is compatible with most existing self-storage door-alarm systems, including those from DigiTech, PTI Security Systems and Sentinel Security Corp. The cost includes a one-time setup fee of $99 per facility, with no ongoing charges. A new enclosure may also be required, dependent on the current system in use.
“INSOMNIAC Unit Alarms is another example of our commitment to designing open solutions for our self-storage partners,” said Jon Loftin, vice president of OpenTech and IoE product owner. “This new integration, like many others developed for the OpenTech IoE platform, enables operators to choose the best solutions for their operations. Operators can now leverage the data available and the advantages afforded by a cloud-based system, but they aren’t losing their initial investment in systems that help keep their tenants’ belongings safe. They’re simply enhancing it.”
This integration is the ninth to be supported by the OpenTech IoE platform. Other integrations include INSOMNIAC CIA for cloud-based access control, SmartEye for security monitoring, SmartDoor for office analytics, SmartGate for gate analytics and others.
OpenTech provides several models of INSOMNIAC self-serve kiosks as well as a range of self-storage rental solutions including the INSOMNIAC Live! Call Center, INSOMNIAC Online Web and mobile applications, LiveAgent! software products, and the INSOMNIAC ILock Security System, all available through the company's self-storage cloud.
