St. Clair, MO, Bans New Self-Storage Development From Commercial Districts

Article-St. Clair, MO, Bans New Self-Storage Development From Commercial Districts

The St. Clair, Mo., Board of Aldermen voted 4-0 on Feb. 24 to restrict new self-storage development from the city’s commercial districts. Members of the planning and zoning commission raised the concern that too many storage facilities were being built in commercial zones, taking away potential sites for other uses, Travis Dierker, city administrator, told the source. The change won’t affect existing facilities.

Though aldermen also discussed self-storage in relation to industrial districts, the board didn’t restrict storage development in those areas, the source reported.

A public hearing on the zoning amendment was held prior to the board meeting, but no comments were received.
