Trachte Building Systems, a manufacturer and supplier of self-storage buildings, is expanding its roof-manufacturing facility in Vernon, Alabama. The company acquired the property last year when it purchased Roof Mart Cos., which consists of Made Right LLC, Metal Land LLC and Roof Mart LLC. All are based in the city. The project will create 70 jobs over the next three years, according to the source.
Trachte will invest more than $11.5 million on building improvements as well as new machinery and equipment for the plant at 1199 County Road 9, which currently employs 56 people, the source reported. Trachte expects to double the staff by 2025.
“Trachte’s expansion project in Lamar County will have a major impact on the local economy, and its job creation will bring new opportunities to the hard-working citizens in Vernon,” said Alabama Governor Kay Ivey. “By selecting Sweet Home Alabama, I know the company has picked the right place to pursue its growth plans.”
Founded in 1901 and based in Sun Prairie, Wis., Trachte is an employee-owned company that manufactures metal prefabricated buildings and components for self-storage, fire-training towers and tactical-training facilities. Its customized self-storage systems include single- and multi-story, interior partition and corridor, and canopy boat/RV.
Roof Mart Cos. was launched by Robert McNees in 2004. It manufactures and markets metal-roof panels, wall panels, trims, trusses, sheds, and post and beam building packages. The companies also erect post-frame buildings.
