SpareFoot, the online marketplace for self-storage, is turning the old-school world of human resources on its head with the release of a five-minute recruiting mini documentary" that pokes fun at traditional corporate HR departments. The video, directed by filmmaker Matt Sobel, can be viewed on Self-Storage TV.
Stars of the film include company co-founders Chuck Gordon and Mario Feghali, marketing specialist Jenny Zhang and recruiter Rachel Morse. Numerous other SpareFoot employees also appear on camera.
The script was written by Sobel and Zhang with colleague Matt Stites. The video was shot at SpareFoots offices in downtown Austin.
At SpareFoot, weve thrown old-fashioned HR out the window. For instance, we do not have an HR department; we have a people department. All of us who work at SpareFoot are people, not resources, CEO Gordon said. At a growing, successful startup like SpareFoot, company culture matters a lot. Our recruiting documentary is a funny way of saying SpareFoots culture is not like the rest.
