Aspen American Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., has agreed to be a carrier for the specialty self-storage insurance programs offered by MiniCo Insurance Agency LLC. Aspen will begin underwriting self-storage coverage effective July 1 in several states, with plans to roll out additional states throughout the year.
MiniCos long-time underwriting partnership with Liberty Agency Underwriters remains strong and will continue, according to MiniCo President and CEO Mike Schofield. The companys new relationship with Aspen will allow MIniCo programs to be viable for more self-storage locations, he said. In addition, the new carrier will include enhancements such as flood coverage, improved wind and hail deductible options, and expanded geographic and peril support.
MiniCo continues to support the independent agency network and looks forward to helping agencies grow their selfstorage book of business with both of our carrier partners, added Jim Henry, chief underwriting officer for MiniCo. We will be contacting our agents with specific state information regarding availability upon approval by the various states.
Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. and its operating subsidiaries have been assigned an A rating by A.M. Best Co. and an A2 rating by Moodys Investors Service.
Phoenix-based MiniCo has provided insurance programs, publications and other products and services for the selfstorage industry since 1974. MiniCo is a member of the Aran Insurance Services Group.
