Update 2/2/15 – Self-storage developer VLR-Roxbury LLC plans to build out the Rivermoor Street project in two phases. Phase one will include the construction of a single-story, 2,500-square-foot addition to the corner of the existing building, which will house an office and “high-security” storage space, according to “Commercial Property Executive.” Approximately 12,000 square feet of existing front-office space will be converted to storage units. A second story comprising more than 66,000 square feet will be added during phase two.
When completed, the facility will offer approximately 1,100 storage units, 77 outdoor parking spots and 75 RV-storage spaces. Jordan Architects Inc. of San Clemente, Calif., designed the project, while Red Hill Construction Services will oversee construction management. The project is expected to create up to 60 construction jobs, the source reported.
VLR-Roxbury purchased the 6-acre, West Roxbury, Mass., property last November for $6.86 million from M&H Holdings LLC. The facility will be managed by CubeSmart.
