A few of you have asked where I've been lately, as the blog has been somewhat void of me over the past several weeks. I've been here, but preparations for the upcoming ISS Summer Expo in Reno-Tahoenow only one week awayhave largely consumed our team's energy. We're also entering production on our annual boat & RV storage supplement issue, published each August; and this year, we've expanded it to cover the widely flourishing mobile-storage business.
Not that I'm making excuses. I don't actually support that practice, being that there is always some reason why we can't be somewhere, can't do something, can't follow through, can't stick it out, etc. It's just what I've been up to.
Back to the topic of Reno ... The show kicks off on Tuesday with the ISS Golf Classic. If you're not yet registered for the Expo, it's not too late. You can get details and sign up at www.insideselfstorage.com/expo.
The summer months, I know, are challenging for business travel because some of you are struggling with lower-than-normal occupancies while others are wrangling the kids into swimmies or, better yet, doing the Disney World, stand-in-every-line-for-three-hours thing. We've been asked about dates and locations for next year's summer event, and we've decided to return to a fall format. Cities under consideration are Nashville, Tenn., and Washington, D.C. (If you have an opinion on this, please post it to the blog.)
So, next week you can look for exciting updates and photos from the "biggest little city in the world." Yes, I know you're ripe with anticipation. I'll do my best to keep you informed and entertained from the show floor! If you're in attendance, don't forget to stop by the ISS booth and introduce yourself, grab a few free magazines, and fill out a reaction survey.
In the meantime, who reads The Wall Street Journal? The paper has published another article regarding REIT performance, speculating on the recent selloff of many of those stocks. You might want to check it out.
