Andover Properties LLC, which operates the Storage King USA self-storage brand, hired Chris Runckel as chief operating officer. In this role, he’ll explore third-party management opportunities, develop operational plans for company properties, and help onboard acquisitions. Andover’s addition of facilities in four new states on top of its already robust pipeline underscored the need for such a position, according to a press release.
Prior to joining Andover, Runckel worked for Life Storage Inc. a self-storage real estate investment trust and third-party management firm. During his tenure, he held various positions in marketing and sales, spending the last 10 years as regional vice president of operations overseeing stores in Arizona, California, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada and Texas.
“This is a big win for us,” said Brian Cohen, president for Andover. “Chris’ extensive industry experience will enable us to take performance to a whole new level as well as provide key insight into the new markets we are seeking to enter.”
“I am excited to join Andover at such a pivotal time in the company’s history, as Andover’s leadership team has the company well-positioned for impressive growth in the self-storage sector,” Runckel said.
Established in 2003, New-York based Andover acquires, develops and manages industrial and retail properties as well as carwashes and self-storage facilities. The firm owns and manages storage properties in 13 states, comprising 3 million square feet across 21,600 units.
