A spree of more than three dozen thefts at self-storage facilities in and around Broken Arrow, Okla., has created outrage, as a notable victim is a 24-year-old Oklahoma National Guard member serving in Afghanistan.

Greg Goodson has been in the Oklahoma National Guard for more than five years. When he received word he would be fighting overseas, he put all of his property in a self-storage facility unnamed by the source. Recently, it was discovered that thieves had stolen checks, yearbooks, photos and most of the serviceman's clothes. Only one of his checks was cashed before his mother was able to report the checkbook stolen.

Broken Arrow Police Major Mark Irwin named two Broken Arrow facilities as break-in venues: County Line Mini Storage and Key Port Storage. It's unclear if Goodson was a tenant at either of these. Irwin also told the source detectives suspect the thieves are tenants at the facilities where the break-ins are occurring. By being tenants, the thieves are granted access to the facility and only need to figure out how to break in to units.

Goodson's mother told the source Goodson will not know about the theft for some time, as he is in combat and she hasn't had a chance to reach him recently. The investigation is still ongoing.
