A partnership between self-storage developer K&H Development and commercial real estate firm MPV Properties LLC intends to build an 80,000-square-foot storage facility in the Steele Creek neighborhood of Charlotte, N.C. The partnership recently closed on the 3.28-acre site at 13425 S. Tryon St., which will house a pair of two-story buildings comprising a combined 500 units, according to a press release. The developers expect to break ground this summer, with completion scheduled for spring 2018.
The city council has already approved rezoning the property for climate-controlled storage, the release stated. “The design and scale of the development will be in-keeping with the neighborhood, with architecture focused on a shop-storefront style characterized by brick inset and glass facades,” partnership officials said.
The property is near Rivergate Shopping Center. “We believe that the proposed project will fill the climatized storage need of the rapidly growing Rivergate/Steele Creek communities located around the Highway 160 and South Tryon intersection,” said George Macon, a partner with MPV. “We are excited to be partnering with K&H Development on the development, [which] has significant experience with similar storage projects across the region.”
K&H Development is a locally owned and operated firm that has developed and operated self-storage projects in the Charlotte market for more than 20 years, the release stated.
Based in Charlotte, MPV Properties offers industrial, land, office and retail brokerage as well as development and property-management services.
