Article-Police Nab Sex Offender Hiding at Brooklyn, NY, Self-Storage Facility

Police arrested an alleged sex offender and robber last Friday who was hiding out at a Brooklyn, New York, self-storage facility. The man supposedly attacked a 25-year-old woman on July 25, stole her credit cards and used one of them to rent space at a CubeSmart location at 92 Caton Place, according to the source.

The man confronted the woman at 1 a.m. as she walked up the stairs to her building at North 10th and Roebling Streets. He threw her down the stairs, then grabbed her genitals, police said. The suspect also stole her purse, which contained cash, identification and credit cards, one of which was used at a CVS Pharmacy after the attack to purchase $46 in drinks and other items. Police released surveillance images of the man inside the store. He later rented the storage space.

Following his arrest, the suspect falsely accused the victim of being a prostitute and gave officers irrational statements, the source reported. Adrian Quarless, 37, has been charged with sex abuse, robbery and grand larceny. He has 13 prior arrests for grand larceny, possession of stolen property and robbery. He’s being held on a $50,000 bail.

CubeSmart owns or manages 1,266 self-storage facilities across the United States. Its operating portfolio comprises 85 million square feet.
