RedBox Storage Ltd., which operates five self-storage facilities in Hong Kong, has appointed Tim Alpe as CEO. Company founder Simon Tyrrell is stepping down after more than seven years in the position. He’ll become executive chairman of the board, focusing on RedBox strategic initiatives, according to a press release.
Alpe has nearly two decades of international management expertise in sales, revenue and corporate leadership. He’s launched, rebranded and provided product conceptualizations for companies including the Rhombus International Hotels Group, and InterContinental Hotels Group’s Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express brands. Most recently, he was CEO of Ovolo Group Hong Kong and Indonesia, where he helped grow the boutique hotel’s portfolio and launched its By Ovolo Collective in South East Asia.
“I'm delighted to welcome Tim to RedBox at an exciting point in the company's history. The business has grown over 220 percent in the last four years, and we are on a trajectory to further improve upon that growth over the coming years,” Tyrrell said. “This is the right time to make this appointment; and seeing the impact Tim has made in his career to date, I am very excited to work with him to really cement the RedBox brand as a household name in this sector.”
“Consistently delivering high-quality customer experiences with relevant product positioning is imperative for any consumer-facing business in 2021 and beyond,” Alpe said. “I am looking forward to utilizing my experience to build the RedBox brand and enhance consumer engagement to enable the future growth for the business.”
Established in 2007, RedBox operates locations throughout Hong Kong, in Chai Wan, Shatin, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun and Yau Tong. InfraRed NF, a Hong Kong-based real estate investment fund operated by a joint venture, acquired a 90 percent stake in the company in 2018.
