Apex Self Storage has opened a new facility in the Hulme area of Manchester, England. The Princess Road property features three floors of office space and a high-security area that can only be accessed biometrically. Two facility employees are getting to know the community by participating in a “box” challenge, in which they must wear a large box in public, have people sign it and then take a selfie with them, according to the source. Proceeds from the activity will benefit the Hideaway Youth Project, a local group that mentors young men and women ages 11 to 25.

Apex will donate 10 pence to Hideaway for each signature collected and 20 pence for each selfie posted to social media and shared with the storage operator, the source reported. Founded in 1965, the Hideaway program helps young people deal with personal issues and includes volunteer work to teach them skills and responsibilities, according to the organization website.

Hulme is a fast-growing area of the city, according to an Apex press release. Additional security features of the property include 24-hour monitoring, individually alarmed doors, sensors and thick walls. The features will be targeted at customers interested in storing valuable items such as antiques and art. Facility services also include document storage, a packaging center and free Wi-Fi.

Earlier this summer, Apex raised more than £1,100 to benefit cancer research in a Race for Life 5k charity event.

The Hulme facility is Apex’s eight self-storage location. The company also operates facilities in Ardwick, Cheadle, Congleton, Eastlands, Glossop, Radcliffe and Warrington, England.
