“This is something we have wanted to do for a while,” said Frederic de Ryckman de Betz, the storage facility’s managing director. “As a small, independent local business, the past few years have been challenging, but they have for the local arts as well. We are over the moon to finally be in a position to work with the local arts community. Hopefully, this will be the start of a long-term relationship and the first of several local initiatives.”

Last fall the storage business hosted a Facebook contest through which it gave away four tickets to “Beauty and the Beast,” which played at the theater from Nov. 29 through Jan. 17.

Opened in 1884, Theatre Royal Stratford East is in the London Borough of Newham. The theater was nearly demolished in the 1970s when the Stratford Shopping Centre was built. It was saved by a public campaign and protected in June 1972 by English Heritage, an organization that works to protect historic sites, according to Wikipedia. The theater is now within the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park, a sporting complex built for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

“We’re delighted to have Attic on board as a new business partner,” said Kerry Michael, the theater’s artistic director. “A thriving local business sector is very important for us and the regeneration of Stratford, and we welcome the opportunity to work with a wide range of companies and stakeholders.”

Established in 2008, Attic Self Storage is an independent facility operator in Central London. In 2012, it won the European Customer Service award from the Federation of European Self Storage Associations. Attic Removals, a removals subsidiary, was added to the business in 2013.
