The Lock Up Self Storage, which operates more than 30 facilities in eight states, hosted “Celebrating Safe Communities,” an annual event organized by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), at its Naples, Fla., facility on Oct. 13. Open to the public, the celebration was held 5 to 8 p.m. at 1025 Piper Blvd. It included animals, a bounce house, comic-book characters, a dunk tank, games and a rock-climbing wall. Popcorn and food from area restaurants were also available.
During the event, the CCSO Crime Prevention Unit offered safety information and its D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) car was on display. Attendees were able to tour fire trucks and a mobile crime-scene lab. There were also demonstrations by the CCSO K-9 Unit and motorcycle deputies.
Now in its third year, "Celebrating Safe Communities” is designed to heighten crime- and drug-prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, according to a CCSO press release. The sheriff’s office is hosting a number of family-friendly activities this week in several communities to bring together businesses, neighborhoods and law enforcement, the release stated. The free events will also include informational kiosks and demonstrations by representatives from emergency services and county-government agencies.
The Lock Up Self Storage is the operating brand of family-owned Lock Up Development Group, an affiliate of BRB Development LLC, which has offered self-storage services since 1976. The company currently operates self-storage facilities in Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York. It owns and manages more than 1.6 million square feet of storage space.
