Phoenix-based U-Haul International Inc., which operates more than 1,300 self-storage locations across North America, has purchased a property adjacent to its facility at 14535 Lebanon Road in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., with the goal of building a new structure to expand its current operation. The acquired 1.02-acre parcel at 106 Grandview Circle will allow the company to add 400 units to its existing 606 as well as rent U-Box portable-storage containers. Construction is expected to be complete next spring, according to a press release.
"This is an exciting acquisition for us," said Jeffery Porter, president of the U-Haul Co. of Nashville. "Climate-controlled self-storage is a product that our customers demand. We are pleased to expand our reach and serve more customers."
U-Haul announced a similar acquisition and expansion for its facility in Hanover, Ill., last month. The company purchased a 1.5-acre property adjacent to its existing site at 4N275 84th Court, which opened in 1994. The operator will convert the present structure to self-storage, adding 112 climate-controlled units its current inventory.
Established in 1945, U-Haul has more than 44 million square feet of storage space at its owned facilities throughout North America.
