My Neighborhood Storage Center (MNSC), a self-storage operator with 10 Florida locations, is hosting a “declutter” event at its Longwood, Fla., facility on Nov. 15 to benefit BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation and other charitable causes. The “DE clutter – DE feat Cancer Day” at 2800 State Road will begin at 10 a.m. Those who donate items to be auctioned for charity will receive a free a hot dog, chips and soda as well as a raffle ticket to win a $100 gift card.
The event is part of the storage facility’s new partnership with Charity Storage, a nonprofit that raises money for charities through self-storage auctions. Sixty percent of net proceeds from this and future MNSC charity auctions will be donated to BASE Camp, a charity that provides year-round support for children and families facing cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. Another 30 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Kure It Cancer Research, and the remaining 10 percent will benefit the Self-Storage Association Foundation.
“At our core, we desire to be ‘more than just storage’ and continually look for opportunities to give back to the communities we serve,” said Adam Mikkelson, vice president of Liberty Investment Properties Inc., which manages the MNSC portfolio. “My Neighborhood Storage Center is excited to partner with BASE Camp for a great cause, and we see this event as a way to involve the greater community in a positive way.”
Terri Jones, BASE Camp’s president, founder and program director, expressed her excitement about the possibilities the partnership will create as it provides much-needed resources for the charity. “I want to thank My Neighborhood Storage Center for making a difference in a child's life! Funding from this project will deliver smiles to many children fighting cancer,” she said.
Established in Orlando, Fla., in 1982, BASE Camp provides a weekly hospital-lunch delivery service, monthly overnight camps, parent-support groups, clinic parties and weekly events for children. It also creates and delivers food baskets to children's families in need, and offers second wishes to those who have already used their one-time wish from other charities.
MNSC has 10 locations in Central Florida, including facilities in Apopka, Kissimmee, Lake Mary, Longwood and Orlando.
