Update 3/4/16 – Dainton Self Storage added £3,000 last year to its fundraising efforts for Children’s Hospice South West. The money was raised through donations from tenants and vendors as well as sales of returned packing boxes at its facilities. To date, more than £12,000 has been donated.
"Our staff, suppliers and generous customers embraced the fundraising activities undertaken in the first year, so much so that what started as one year of support turned into three,” said Paul Maddicott, managing director. “We couldn't have envisaged raising so much when we started our fundraising partnerships with the Children's Hospital."
Dainton has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as its charity to support this year. Vince Hall, a property manager for the company, will host a concert at the St. Day Inn on March 19 to raise money. The tribute act will include songs by Nat King Cole, Matt Monro and Frank Sinatra. The 7 p.m. show is open to the public for a £2 donation.
4/1/2015 – Dainton Self Storage in Barnstaple, North Devon, England, raised £6,467 over the last two years for Children’s Hospice South West, which provides care for life-limited children and their families. Dainton’s goal was to raise £5,000. The staff’s fundraising efforts included participating in the “It’s A Knockout” team-building event and reselling returned packing boxes for £1 each.
“I was confident my team would not let me down, and they embraced the challenge as I knew they would,” Shaun Duncan, operations director, told the source. “We are a family-run business, and Children’s Hospice South West is a wonderful charity that is very close to the hearts of our staff. They know what a wonderful and vital service it provides to families with children who have life-limiting health conditions.”
