PODS Enterprises LLC, a national provider of portable-storage containers, has appointed Kathryn V. Marinello to succeed John Koch as president and CEO. Koch is retiring after spending more than eight years with the Clearwater, Fla.-based company. Marinello has more than 20 years of executive-leadership experience, most recently serving as president and CEO of Hertz Global Holdings, according to a press release.

“Kathy is a proven, visionary leader, and we are thrilled to welcome her to PODS,” said Simon Gregorich, senior vice president and chief financial officer. “PODS is a brand built on the spirit of innovation, and Kathy’s track record of implementing bold, forward-thinking strategies to drive growth makes her uniquely positioned to steer the company forward.”

“When PODS introduced its portable, on-demand storage solutions, it changed the way the world thinks about moving and storage. That longtime commitment to meeting our customers' unique, personal needs is fundamental to who we are as a company, and it is what excites me most about the opportunities ahead of us,” Marinello said. “It’s an honor to join a team of such passionate and caring professionals, whose hard work and dedication to excellence in customer service are key to our success. I look forward to building on PODS’ strong foundation and leading the company into its next chapter, expanding the legacy of service and innovation, and meeting customers exactly where they are and where they need us.”

Marinello oversaw Hertz from January 2017 until last May. During her time with the company, she oversaw $10 billion in revenue, fostering 10 consecutive quarters of revenue growth and nine consecutive quarters of increased profitability, the release stated. She resigned from her position a week before the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Her departure was characterized as part of an “ongoing succession-planning process,” according to the source.

Marinello previously served as CEO of Ceridian Corp., Stream Global Services, the Electronic Payments Group at First Data Corp., and the Fleet Commercial Finance, Consumer Insurance and Consumer Finance divisions of General Electric, according to the release. She’s also served on the boards of several companies including MasterCard US, Nielsen and Volvo. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany and an MBA from Hofstra University.

Founded in 1998, PODS provides residential and commercial services in 46 U.S. states, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. To date, the network has completed more than 1.2 million long-distance moves, exceeded 5.4 million deliveries, and has more than 227,000 containers in service.
