Inside Self-Storage (ISS) has released a new podcast as part of its “Sounds of Storage” series that examines mixed-use projects and how they’re being used to positive effect in the self-storage industry. The eight-minute interview with Peter Stuhlreyer, chief architect of Designhaus LLC, explains how developers can use this approach to gain favor with municipalities, particularly in zoning districts where storage isn’t a permitted use. Stuhlreyer discusses advantages and drawbacks of this development type as well as design considerations.
Stuhlreyer has designed more than a half a billion dollars’ worth of commercial, multi-family and self-storage construction, including facilities for many well-known national self-storage brands. He’ll be speaking at the upcoming ISS World Expo in Las Vegas, July 13-16, where he’ll present a seminar titled “Self-Storage Meets Retail Suburbia: Finding Success With Mixed-Use Projects.”
Based in Auburn Hills, Mich., Designhaus provides professional architectural services as well as interior and landscape design to self-storage and other business sectors.
