Spartan Investment Group LLC (SIG), a real estate investment company that specializes in self-storage investments, will rebrand 10 of its 12 properties under the new FreeUP Storage name. It’ll also update those locations with a fresh color scheme and signage. Having filed for a trademark on the name in September, SIG intends to apply it to future acquisitions, according to the source.
In the past, all SIG storage properties had unique names. “Once we started buying facilities quarterly and monthly, it became a huge hassle to create a new brand every time. So, we decided it was time to create a national brand so that each facility was consistent across our portfolio,” said Lauren Brychell, marketing and investor-relations associate. “We wanted to roll out brand standards for our self-storage facilities across the board, so that no matter if someone came to a Georgia location or one in Texas, they would be getting the same top-notch experience.”
The SIG self-storage portfolio comprises more than 860,000 square feet in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia and Texas, according to its website. Founded in 2013 and based in Golden, Colo., it syndicates investor capital to develop real estate. Its interests also include luxury condos and RV parks.
