Hungarian self-storage operator Self Store Budapest recently surpassed the 1,000 customer mark and expects to double that figure within the next five years, according to Márk Ablonczy, managing director. The company is in its sixth year of operation and has three facilities in Budapest, Hungary.
Self Store plans to develop a 17,000-square-meter facility in the northern part of Budapest this spring, according to the source. The project will more than double its current portfolio capacity of 15,000 square meters of storage space.
Occupancy across all three locations was more than 90 percent last year, and rental fees generated more than HUF 200 million in net revenue, the source reported. The company’s pre-tax profit was about HUF 60 million in 2014.
Self Store has invested HUF 4 billion into the business, Ablonczy told the source. He estimated there’s consumer demand for about 50,000 square meters of storage space in Hungary.
Self Store Budapest was founded in 2009. The company offers traditional, Western-style self-storage services. Amenities include video cameras, moving and transportation services, free use of forklifts and trolleys, and a full supply of boxes, locks, and other moving and packing supplies.
