Scotland-based Keepsafe Storage Centres has entered a year-long sponsorship agreement with Horsecross Arts, the charitable organization responsible for the restoration and redevelopment of Perth Theatre in Perth, Scotland. The venue, which opened in 1901 and closed in 2014, is one of the country’s “oldest and best-loved theaters,” according to a Keepsafe press release.
In exchange for its monetary donation, Keepsafe will be allowed to display its logo on Perth Theatre collateral, pop-up stands and leaflets. The company will also receive an ad in the venue’s seasonal brochure and be featured in a video clip that will be displayed year-round in the lobby of Perth Concert Hall, another Horsecross venue. In addition, Keepsafe staff will receive complimentary tickets to events
The renewal project, titled “Transform Perth Theatre,” will see the historic venue’s B-listed auditorium restored to its former Edwardian glory, the release stated. In addition to offering bespoke community, education and outreach spaces, the upgraded building will include a new 200-seat studio theater and improved access throughout. Expected to open in 2017, it will serve as a dedicated home for members of Perth Youth Theater (PYT).
“We provide space for businesses and individuals who are between homes or spilling out of their premises; so it seemed only natural to help Perth Theatre, and in particular Perth Youth Theatre, create a new home,” said Anne Smith, managing director for Keepsafe.
Horsecross Arts was established in 2005 to operate Perth Concert Hall and refresh and reposition the Perth Theatre.
PYT, which counts Scottish actor Ewan McGregor among its alumni, runs weekly workshops for youths age four to 18.
Keepsafe launched in 1999 with the Scotland’s first purpose-build, drive-up self-storage building, according to the release. It now operates faculties in Dundee and Perth, offering moving and packing supplies in addition to storage.
