FlexiSpace, a U.K. self-storage and workspace brand, is designing a new £3m site in Middleton, Manchester, England. The property on Old Hall Street will comprise 100,000 square feet of self-storage and workspace, which includes 10 offices, 50 vehicle-parking spaces and two communal kitchen areas, according to the company website. The firm developed a similar site on Ashton Old Road near Manchester City Centre in 2013. That property comprises 80,000 square feet of space, with 400 storage units and 30 offices.

The firm developed a similar site on Ashton Old Road near Manchester City Centre in 2013. That property comprises 80,000 square feet of space, with 400 storage units and 30 offices.

“Following our success on Ashton Old Road, we wanted to build on the value and demand Manchester provides. When the opportunity arose to acquire and develop the new site in Middleton, it was too good to miss,” said Paul Fahey, a partner in the company and a developer of more than 20 stores in the past two decades. "It fits our strategic plan and [the site] is an area clearly underserved by the profile of service we provide. We want to continue acquiring and developing sites and to make FlexiSpace the leading self-storage and workspace brand in the region.”

To further its expansion plans, FlexiSpace has developed a relationship with Barclays, a London-based multi-national banking and financial-services company. “We need a banking partner for the long-term, supportive of our business aims and ambitions. They share our enthusiasm, understand our business, and have demonstrated an appetite to support our future growth plans as we expand across the region,” Fahey said.

“By capitalizing on the growth of online start-up businesses and the rising cost of city center business rates, FlexiSpace is well-positioned, and we look forward to seeing the business grow over the months and years ahead,” added Stuart Stocks, relationship director for Barclays Corp.

In addition to providing self-storage and workspace, FlexiSpace sells moving and packing supplies. The company also partners with local, national and international moving companies.
