Box Clever, an England self-storage company serving the areas of Brampton, Carlisle, Cockermouth, Cumbria, Penrith, Whitehaven and Workington, is undertaking a £150,000 expansion at its Carlisle location to meet increasing demand. The warehouse on Millbrook Road in the Kingstown Industrial Estate will get a new first-floor level as well as a lift, according to the source. A second phase of development will create additional storage spaces above existing ground-floor units.
Facility manager Paul Swailes, 50, said the location is operating at about 92 percent capacity. "We've only got about three or four of our 94 units free right now. We've got to the stage where we need another level put in here, otherwise there will be no room for anyone else," he told the source.
Swailes also oversees the Box Clever facility in Embleton, which is also the headquarters of Box Clever parent company Caterite, a food and drinks supplier. Caterite Managing Director Pascal Delorme indicated there are plans for a third-stage expansion of the Carlisle self-storage property involving the installation of a third floor.
