Self-storage was the challenge theme during a recent episode of “Project Runway,” a fashion-based, reality-television show that airs on the Lifetime network. During the challenge, three teams of two contestants had to bid on five storage units at a facility in New York. The contestants then had to create fashion designs strictly from materials that came from the units.
Contestants had up to $500 to bid on the units. The first unit sold to the team of Korina and Emily for $25 and contained a pile of chairs and old furniture. They also purchased a unit filled with a lot of random items, including a wedding dress. Kini and Amanda purchased a unit full of children’s toys and a painting of a “psychedelic Yeti,” while Sean and Char purchased one unit with barely any contents and another with lots of leather, fishing items and hunting gear, according to a Lifetime synopsis.
Kini and Amanda won the challenge by creating a dress out of deflated soccer balls. The team also made a piece featuring the “psychedelic Yeti” watercolor, according to the source. Other items included a blue trench coat that incorporated lampshades into the design by Sean and Char, and a design made from a couch by Korina and Emily.
“Project Runway” airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. Eastern Time and 8 p.m. Central Time. “The Highest Bidder” episode is viewable on the Lifetime website.
