The U.K. television series "Storage Hoarders" has embarked on its second season and has already filmed at four self-storage facilities that will be featured on upcoming episodes. Airing on the ITV network, Storage Hoarders is produced by Twofour Productions and hosted by Aggie MacKenzie. It challenges people renting self-storage units to sort through their items, and then donate, throw out or sell them. MacKenzie is best known for her role on the TV show How Clean Is Your House?
Storage Giant, a self-storage provider for the Cardiff, Newport and South Wales regions of Wales, recently filmed with the show's team, uncovering a tapestry and Swiss grandfather clock, both expected to be worth a large sum of money. The show relies on antique experts Perry Field, Paul Hayes, Tom Keane and Tracy Martin to seek out valuables among the clutter that can be sold for cash at auction.
English facilities Anchor Self Storage in Netherton, SureStore Self Storage in Langtoft, and Dainton Self Storage, which has locations in Heathfield and Newton Abbot, will also appear in the upcoming season. To film at a facility, the show must get permission from a tenant to be featured in the episode. Once a willing tenant is identified, MacKenzie begins her work sorting through the clutter, while exploring the reasons people hold onto unnecessary items and struggle to let go of the past. Many times, she recruits the help of a close friend, relative or partner to help the tenant through the process.
The new season of Storage Hoarders began Aug. 12 and will continue through September.
