ezStorage Corp., which operates 52 self-storage facilities in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., has received silver-level certification for its Burtonsville, Md., location from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The facility was designed specifically to meet LEED v4 BD+C: Warehouse and Distribution Center requirements, according to a press release.

ezStorage has been a member of the USGBC since 2007. It now has three facilities certified under the LEED program. “We always look for ways to improve the customer experience at our self-storage facilities. The LEED v4 certification process is an excellent roadmap for creating the most efficient and innovative storage buildings in the markets we serve,” said Steven Cratin, vice president of asset management at ezStorage. “The end result is a superior self-storage facility for both our customers and employees."

The Burtonsville property at 4001 Sandy Spring Road offers 930 climate-controlled units ranging in size from 25 to 300 square feet. Security features include 24-hour video surveillance, electronic gate and building access, and unit-specific passcodes. It opened in July 2016.

Based in Columbia, Mo., ezStorage was founded in 1987. The company’s portfolio comprises more than 43,000 units.
