A man suffered second- and third-degree burns to his upper body last week after crashing his vehicle into a unit at Stack & Store Self Storge in Aberdeen, Maryland. The collision ignited a fire in the engine compartment to the driver’s 2021 GMC Denali SUV. The blaze then spread to the building, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage. It took 25 firefighters about 30 minutes to control the incident at 805 S. Philadelphia Blvd., according to the source.

The unidentified 43-year-old male was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where his condition was listed as critical but stable. He was also treated for smoke inhalation, the source reported.

No other injuries were reported. Investigators ruled the fire an accident.

Founded in 1983, family-owned Stack & Store operates seven self-storage locations in Maryland.
