A Portland, Ore., man who allegedly locked a cat in a self-storage unit for weeks without food or water has been charged with animal neglect in Clackamas County Circuit Court.
Anthony Glenn Johnson, a 55-year-old transient, has been accused of tying the tabby cat to a shopping cart within a self-storage unit at Money Saver Mini Storage in Portland. A Money Saver employee doing security rounds heard the cat crying and rescued it in early February.
Beyond extreme starvation, the cat also suffered urine burns and a pressure wound to his face, likely caused by the shopping cart. A veterinarian told the source it will take weeks for the cat to recover as it was near death when it was rescued.
