A possible theft at a self-storage facility in Beaumont, Texas, turned into a police chase Sunday.
A self-storage operator called police around 4 p.m. to report a possible burglary. The owner told police while passing his business he saw two people breaking into units. He gave police a description of the car, which he was following.
A Jefferson County Sheriffs deputy spotted a car matching the description northbound on U.S. 69. According to a news release, when the deputy turned on his lights, a chase ensued. When the suspects car hit a curb, the rear tire was damaged. A female passenger jumped out and was quickly taken into custody.
The car continued until the driver lost control on a bend in the roadway and came to a stop. The 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with evading arrest and criminal mischief. The woman, 38, was charged with public intoxication. Their names were not released.
