A real estate developer based in Lehi, Utah, plans to convert a former Sears building in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas, into a self-storage facility. Wichita Storage Holdings partner Tyrone Frazier said the indoor facility will be called Amazing Storage, with half of the building expected to open this summer.

Demolition work is already underway at the site, while the developer is still in the process of obtaining necessary city permits and completing the facilitys design, Frazier told the source. We are bringing in a new and unique storage concept to town, Frazier said. It will be a climate-controlled, drive-in building. It will be full of self-storage spaces of all different sizes.

Local development officials are excited about the prospects of an out-of-town developer investing in the city. It is phenomenal to get people outside of Wichita Falls investing in our town, said Cynthia Laney, executive director of Downtown Wichita Falls Development, an organization dedicated to the revitalization of the area. With it being downtown, it will bring more people downtown. It is really great. It means people are looking at us and bringing their dollars and their business into Wichita Falls.
