Update 9/22/17 – SurePoint received approval this month to build a new facility in Overland Park, Kan. Construction on the three-story, climate-controlled building near the corner of 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue will begin in the first quarter of 2018.

The company will also start construction this year on its Olathe facility, and wrap up development on a similar project in Pearland, Texas, its fourth Houston-area project in two years. The company already completed three ground-up developments in San Antonio that opened between February 2015 and April 2016.

7/13/16 – Texas-based SurePoint Self Storage has expanded into the Kansas City, Mo., metropolitan market with the acquisition of a 2.7-acre parcel in Olathe, Kan., on which it plans to build a new facility. The company intends to begin construction on a four-story, 123,000-square-foot facility early next year. The asset will be SurePoint’s first outside of Texas, according to a press release.

The property near the intersection of 135th Street and Blackbob Road is close to the Olathe Executive Office Park and retail, including a Starbucks and Walmart.

SurePoint has aggressively expanded its footprint this year, particularly in the Houston market. It’s pursuing additional properties in the Kansas City area, the release stated.

SurePoint is owned by developers Jeff Bailey, Brian Cisarik and Robert Loeb. Cisarik and Loeb have been active in the San Antonio self-storage market since 2001. The developers operate four self-storage facilities in Houston and five in San Antonio.
