A self-storage facility in Grand Island, Neb., suffered serious damage Monday from a storm with strong winds and heavy rain.
A building at Grand Island Mini Storage was hit hard by the storm, leaving tenants items strewn about the facility. Self-storage owner Marty Schmidt said the facilitys security cameras captured the event. Although there was no official report of tornado activity, Schmidt told the source it appeared to be a tornado. Unit doors along the west side of the building were missing and parts of the roof were taken.
Schmidt was notified by the citys emergency center around 10 p.m. When he arrived at the facility, police were also there. On Tuesday, he began contacting tenants, but some had already heard about the damage. Several tenants were loading up their belongings, some of which had been damaged by rain.
