Self-Storage of Elizabethtown has received approval to add 9,000 rentable square feet to its facility in Elizabethtown, Pa. The project will double its capacity, adding two buildings with about 90 storage units. The city council approved the plan last week but required the business to acquire a dozen waivers due to the tracts zoning and proximity to a planned pedestrian pathway.
Todd Smeigh, of D.C. Gohn Associates, a local surveying and engineering firm, explained the project to the council, describing it as being on an island that would be hard to develop in the spirit of mixed use, which encourages retail, according to the source.
Construction is expected to begin within the next 90 days and will take four to six months to complete, Smeigh said.
