Moove In Self Storage, which operates 15 facilities in Maryland and Pennsylvania, has completed phase two of its facility in Manheim, Pa. Spurred by demand, the expansion includes a new single-story building comprising 12,000 square feet of storage space in 100 climate-controlled and drive-up units. This is the first Moove In facility to offer drive-up, temperature-controlled units, according to a press release from Investment Real Estate Construction (IREC), the company that built the facility’s first phase in 2009.
The property at 28 Doe Run Road is situated on more than 10 acres and features 1,200 square feet of management and retail space. Phase one included a single-story building encompassing 79,200 square feet of storage space in 319 units.
IREC obtained all land-development plans and permits in addition to designing and constructing the new building, the release stated. Though the business remained open during the work, vehicles parked in outdoor spaces were relocated. To minimize tenant impact, the construction team poured concrete at night using high-powered work lights.
“It is exciting to complete another expansion for the Moove In Self Storage portfolio,” said John H. Gilliland, president and CEO of Investment Real Estate LLC (IRE), IREC’s parent company. “As the self-storage market gets healthier, we are building out all the expansions we can for our own portfolio as well as those owned by third parties. It is an exciting time in the industry.”
IRE has a long history with the property, having provided a feasibility study and brokerage services as well as construction and property management, according to the release.
Since its inception in 1998, IRE has provided brokerage, construction, development and management services to self-storage owners and investors. Its construction arm was founded in 2000 and has built more than 2 million square feet of self-storage space in eight states.
Moove In Self Storage operates facilities in Huntingdon, Lancaster and York counties in Pennsylvania.
