LifeStorage of South West Loop in Chicago, part of a self-storage chain that spans eight states, hosted a garage-style sale on Oct. 12. The event at 601 Harrison St. took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LifeStorage customers and community members were invited to participate by bringing in unwanted objects to sell or browsing the items of other sellers. The event was free, and sellers were not be required to obtain permits or pay vendor fees to sell their goods. Sellers provided their own tables and chairs and were welcome to sell to any attendees.

This event is a wonderful way for LifeStorage to reach out to the community as well as provide an added benefit to its clients, said Shalonda Siler, district manager. The event allows clients to free up extra storage before the winter months. In all, this is a wonderful way to bring people together in a fun, social atmosphere.

LifeStorage was founded in 2002 by owners Jean Jodoin and Christopher Barry. The company currently has 39 facilities in eight states, with a heavy concentration in the Chicagoland area.
