Compass Self Storage, a member of the Amsdell family of companies, has purchased All Star Self Storage in McKinney, Texas. It’s the company’s ninth acquisition this year. The site was purchased by separate affiliates of Amsdell Group LLC and Compass Self Storage LLC and will be rebranded under the Compass name, according to a press release.
The property at 9696 Virginia Parkway comprises more than 124,000 net rentable square feet of storage space in climate-controlled and drive-up units. It also features covered vehicle-storage spaces, a retail office that sells moving and packing supplies, and truck rentals. Compass plans to upgrade the site with a new access-control and security system. Additional renovation projects include paving the property and remodeling the rental office to provide more retail space, the release stated.
Compass currently operates 78 facilities nationwide, including six in the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth market. It purchased a storage facility in Fort Worth in March.
“The addition of this storage center fits well with our footprint in the Greater Dallas market. We look forward to enhancing the customer experience at this property by making upgrades to customer access, security and offerings to make the moving and storing process easier,” said Todd Amsdell, president.
Headquartered in Cleveland, the Amsdell Cos. draws its roots from the family-owned construction company founded in 1928.
