STORE Self Storage & Wine Storage in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., hosted a fundraiser in the style of A&E TVs Storage Wars to support Gulfstream Goodwill Industries Inc. Named $torage War$, the event included storage-unit auctions as well as a silent auction of various items donated from 28 local Goodwill stores. The event drew more than 275 people and featured live music. It also offered food from Vic & Angelos, Roccos Tacos, Prosecco Cafe, Spotos Oyster Bar and TooJays Gourmet Deli.
The silent auction included more than 45 items including weekend getaways, gift baskets, restaurant certificates and retail gift cards. Tickets to special events, game playoffs and cultural attractions were also on the auction block.
Two units tied for the highest-selling unit of the evening, garnering $1,100 each. One contained a vintage Florida bamboo dining set complete with a 12-piece place setting, silverware, artwork and other accessories. The other contained home-renovation décor including cabinet sinks, towel holders, ceiling fans, two bathtubs, track lighting, mini blinds and more. Additional units of note included one containing items for a complete home office, which sold for $1,050, a unit full of outdoor and gardening equipment that netted $950, and a unit holding holiday decor, which brought in $600.
$torage War$ was a first-year event for Gulfstream Goodwill and a tremendous success, netting almost $14,000 in one evening, Marvin Tanck, president and CEO of Gulfstream Goodwill, told the source. The events unique concept resulted in a charged atmosphere, where guests enthusiastically embraced the upscale merchandise that can be found at our retail stores at a great value.
