Stor-All Self Storage, which operates five facilities in Nevada, is teaming up with Charity Storage to raise money for Austin’s House, an emergency shelter for children. The operator is seeking new and gently used donations of household items to fill a storage unit at its Gardnerville, Nev., facility. If enough items are received, the contents will be auctioned on June 20 via StorageTreasures.com, a website that serves self-storage auction buyers and sellers.
Sixty percent of the proceeds from the sale will benefit Austin’s House, while 20 percent will be donated to Kure-It Cancer Research, a nonprofit dedicated to funding kidney and other cancer research. The remaining funds will be split between Charity Storage to cover operating costs and the national Self Storage Association Foundation Scholarship program.
Charity Storage is a nonprofit that has established a national network of participating storage facilities to serve as collection points for goods donated by tenants as well as the general public. Donated goods are stored and later sold during the facilities’ public auctions.
Founded in 2007, Austin’s House provides housing for up to 10 children, from newborns to 18 years old. The children have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. They’re cared at the home until they’re reunited with their family or an appropriate long-term placement is made.
Stor-All was founded by Robert and Twyila Whear in 1971. The family-operated business includes two sites in Gardnerville and one each in Dayton, Elko and Winnemucca, Nev.
