Self-storage operators across the globe are showing their holiday spirit by hosting holiday drives and community events.
Paul & Jerry's Self Storage in Spring Hill, Fla., partnered with a local Boy Scout to host a Christmas shopping and wrapping event on Dec. 17. Joshua Poland, 12, and Troop 442 coordinated the Give Till Its Gone project, which allowed shoppers to browse through donated items including shirts, toys and small appliances. Paul & Jerrys Self Storage acts as a donation site for several area non-profit agencies.
Chicagos LifeStorage, sponsored the WGN Morning News Drive-Thru Toy Drive. WGN and sponsors partnered with Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's Julian D. King Gift Foundation, while LifeStorage returns for the second consecutive year as the official storage facility for the charity event. The event is a celebration of the holiday season and in memory of Hudson's slain nephew, Julian D. King.
WGN hosted a four-hour televised celebration on Dec. 20, which featured carolers, a visit from Santa, and an appearance by Jennifer Hudson. The Julian D. King Foundation also held an event later in the week to distribute the collected toys with the help of LifeStorage staff.
The U.K.s Access Self Storage collected toy and game donations for The Childrens Society, a non-profit that sponsors more than 75 programs through out England. The company collected donations at two locations, 1a Neptune Road in Harrow, and the store on First Way in Wembley.
Spacebox Storage USA in North Fort Meyers, Fla., donated more than 200 toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Annual Holiday Toy Drive. The self-storage facility raised $1000 in cash through it's fundraising operations in November and purchased the toys from area merchants.
