Budget Self Storage, which operates facilities in Florida and North Carolina, is supporting “Music In Our Schools Month” (MIOSM) by collecting new and gently used musical instruments in March at eight of its Florida locations. The program, launched by the National Association for Music Education (NafME) in 1973, raises awareness of the importance of music education for children.
“When I found out there was a national movement to bring attention to music programs in our local schools my wheels started turning on how we could support this effort,” said Robin Emanuel, marketing coordinator for Budget Self Storage.
Emanuel contacted some local schools to see if they’d be interested in being recipients of the musical-instrument drive. “Booker Middle School was the first to respond and they were ecstatic,” she said. “Budget Self Storage is proud to give back to our community by supporting local school-music programs.”
Donations can be dropped off at the storage facilities Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
NAfME represents more than 75,000 active, retired and pre-service music teachers and 60,000 honor students and supporters. In addition to announcing the theme for the year, the organization is responsible for communicating ideas to support state and local MIOSM celebrations, providing awareness items such as t-shirts, posters and buttons, and coordinating programs.
Founded in 1985, Budget Self Storage focuses on ownership, acquisition, development and management of self-storage facilities. The firm launched Budget Management Inc. in 1987 in Sarasota, Fla., to oversee it portfolio. StorCon Development LLC coordinates the site selection, research, development and construction of new brand facilities.
