Sharebee Technologies Inc., a Canada-based peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace that specializes in storage services, has completed a pre-seed investment round led by Toronto-based All Canadian Self-Storage. Similar to other shared-economy networks, Sharebee provides an online platform where people in need of storage can find local hosts willing to rent available space. The capital received from All Canadian and several other investors will be used to fund the company’s growth initiatives, including expansion into the Greater Toronto Area, according to a press release.
Sharebee began serving Toronto today, launching in the market with 200 hosts offering 300 storage locations, the release stated.
"Sharebee is a pioneer in the P2P storage industry, with a product targeted at a market segment that is growing with the digitally enabled sharing economy,” said Leslie Kellen, director of operations and marketing at All Canadian. “We are excited to work with and support Sharebee as they grow their customer base and expand into larger markets across Canada."
“Using your computer or mobile device, we envision a future where anywhere around the world, you can rent affordable, convenient and safe storage spaces in your neighborhood for half the price of a traditional storage unit,” said Max Villemure, co-founder and CEO of Sharebee. “We’re very happy to be offering our services to the Greater Toronto Area.”
Sharebee hosts offer various storage spaces including warehouses, garages, basements, vacant rooms and lockers. Renter verification and transactions can be handled through the platform or with the assistance of Sharebee’s storage specialists, according to the release.
All Canadian operates seven self-storage facilities in Ontario, Canada. It also offers mobile-storage services.
Launched in 2017 and based in Montreal, Sharebee operates a P2P platform with more than 5,000 storage spaces in Ontario and Quebec.
